Ian Sword

Managing Director

The Company’s active Managing Director Ian Sword, firmly believes in a hands-on approach to the management of all projects, and has 50 years of experience in the Construction Industry.

Ian came from humble beginnings as a steel-fixer, to establish his first company in 1977.  He has seen the expansion of his companies and services offered even through difficult economic times, always priding himself on providing a quality service, on time, within budget and in a safe working environment.

Melissa Sword

HSEQ Manager

Melissa joined the family business in 2002.  She holds a BSc (Hons) Safety and Environmental Management Degree, as well as NEBOSH diplomas in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management. She is a graduate member of IOSH and Practitioner member of IEMA.

Melissa has been managing the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities since 2007.  Melissa constantly monitors and seeks to improve the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Management and performance.

Anil Patel

Commercial Manager

Anil has nearly 30 years’ experience in the Construction Industry.  Qualifying as, and progressing from Quantity Surveyor to Consultant, to Commercial Manager, including the management of commercial departments on major multi-disciplinary projects for a leading international contracting organisation before joining Sword as Commercial Manager in 2013.

Anil is very commercially aware with experience and proven record in strategic planning, contract administration and costs and project management.

Luke Daley

Contracts Manager

Luke joined Sword in 1995, he is a time served tradesman with more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, he has progressed through all levels of the industry to his current position as Contracts Manager.   Luke is able to provide hands on technical input at all stages of a project and has a wide base of experience within heavy civils, including bridges and structures on road and rail networks, water treatment facilities and power stations.  Managing contracts up to £20 million.

Andy Lambert

Contracts Manager

Andy started out with Sword as a formwork carpenter at the age of 21.  Since then he has progressed his expertise and gained industry knowledge to rise through the ‘ranks’ to his current position of Contracts Manager which position he has held since 2010.  Andy continues to build his experience with key clients on rail projects, and has particular experience of waste to energy facility projects.
Andy is also a qualified CPCS Lifting Appointed Person.

Ant Cunningham

Contracts Manager

Ant started his career in the industry as a steel-fixer, first joining Sword in 1993.  He has climbed the ladder through Site Supervisor and Site Manager to Contracts Manager in 2014.

Ant is able to bring practical experience and Management Skills together on a variety of civils projects including recently a temporary rail head facility and tidal flood barrier.
